Kickapoo Nation to Host Olympic Champion
A world-renowned athlete will be guest of honor at a special ceremony at 10 a.m., Monday, July 1, on the Kickapoo Indian Reservation west of Horton on K-20 Highway. Olympic champion Billy Mills will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for the Billy Mills Kickapoo Tribe Cross Country Park on the reservation. The park is a Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas project, and the presentation is in conjunction with the National American Indian Diabetes Foundation, and will take place just one day after Mills’ birthday.

The Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas is holding a powwow this weekend starting on Friday and running until Sunday. The powwow will be held on the Kickapoo Powwow grounds in Horton. There will be both dancing and drum contests with thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs.

Kickapoo Tribe Announces Mandatory Water Conservation
The Kickapoo Water Treatement Plant has issued a notice to all the Kickapoo Tribal members. It bars the use of treated water on lawns and gardens, the filling of pools and car washing. Anyone who violates the order will be disconnected from the tribe's water service.
