Treaties
As with most or all North American Indian Tribes, upon the arrival of the European settlers, the Kickapoo (Kiikaapoi) have endured centuries of opression from the United States government and their continuous efforts to assimilate the Indian people. Despite what many would label as a "nation conquered", the Kiikaapoi, along with hundreds of Indian tribes across North America, have survived and are continuing to preserve our cultures and ancestrial lifestyles to an adequate degree.
